Things I Ate in Singapore - Places to Eat in Singapore

Singapore is one of my favourite cities, it is clean, safe, beautiful and full of places to discover. I really enjoyed the food over there and below I tell you about all the restaurants I visited in Singapore. I have not covered any hawker centers in this post, I personally have nothing against them but in this post, I have just talked about restaurants. That being said please make your own decisions and research and do experience cuisine at a hawker center if that is something you would like.

Decadent Diaries Tips:

  1. Singapore MRT will help you get to any location for your meals fast, economically and efficiently. It is according to me one of the best public transport systems in the world.

  2. Goes without saying that take reservations for popular restaurants as Singaporeans love to eat at any time of the day. (I love them for that!)

  3. You will get tired walking, there is a lot to see and do, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

  4. My advice is to stay at a hotel located on Orchard Road, there is a lot to see and eat and experience over there and it's super convenient.

  5. Google Maps is your friend, mark all the restaurants you wish to visit on your map so you can plan out where you wish to eat when you visit that particular location.

1.Brasserie Les Saveurs, St Regis Singapore

The St. Regis is one of the most majestic hotels in Singapore. The restaurant is at the lobby level and exudes elegance. The regal chandeliers and general decor of the restaurant was absolutely splendid. We had a truffle and mushroom pasta dish, gnocchi and burrata salad. It was a memorable experience.

2.Gokul Vegetarian Restaurant, Little India

Little India is one of the most colourful, vibrant parts of Singapore and Gokul Vegetarian Restaurant as the name suggests is a fully vegetarian restaurant which is really a heaven for vegetarians as you get to try all types of local Singaporean dishes in their vegetarian formats! We tried the roti prata, char kway teow and the nasi goreng. It was a fantastic experience.

3.The Marmalade Pantry

The marmalade pantry is one of those restaurants which is like a big warm hug, the food is so sublime and soul-satisfying, no wonder it is always filled with people. Take a reservation before you go there. All the dishes were great from the penne to the sandwich with sweet potato fries, but the highlight over there are their desserts. They have a display from where you can see many of their pastries but watch out for what the locals are ordering, they turn out to be the best. It was a truly decadent, indulgent meal!

4.Shisen Hanten

Shisen Hanten was one of the restaurants I found due to watching Mikey Chen's videos (of strictly dumpling fame). It is a Michelin Star restaurant serving Chinese cuisine. The food and service were both exceptional. We had the sautéed seasonal vegetables with a duo of mushrooms and truffle, the vegetarian fried rice and dan dan noodles.

The service was absolutely amazing as it should be from a Michelin star restaurant. The ambience was breathtaking as well with these multiple elegant chandeliers hanging from the ceilings and the restaurant was at a height overlooking the beautiful city of Singapore which looked even more stunning during the nighttime.

6.Tanjong Beach Club , Sentosa

Sentosa Island is a must for any visitor to Singapore, I researched the island to try to find something other than seeing the Merlion or universal studios which I had already seen before many times. That's when I stumbled upon this elegant beach club apparently pretty popular with locals and tourists alike. The ambience did not disappoint , it overlooked the scenic Singapore Strait, and people were enjoying the sun and the pool. We ordered the virgin pina colada which was served up in an actual frozen pineapple! We also had an avocado toast which was fresh and full of flavour. Really loved the entire feel of this club and the stunning views.

7.The Landing Point , Fullerton Bay Hotel

The tradition of Afternoon Tea is taken very seriously in Singapore. And I just found the perfect place with the most breathtaking views to enjoy the same. The Landing Point at the luxurious Fullerton Bay Hotel overlooks Marina Bay and Marina Bay Sands and if you take an advance reservation you are most likely to be seated at one of the tables which overlook these stunning views.

The afternoon tea had an excellent selection of sweets and savouries with a festival of Hungarian desserts going on during that time. Service was excellent and it truly was a memorable experience.

8.Henri Charpentier

I just walked by this place and the picture-perfect strawberry shortcake caught my eye and it tasted as good as it looks. Plump juicy pieces of strawberry enveloped by fluffy cake and vanilla cream, oh my god heaven in my mouth!

9.Tiger Sugar

I heard about the tiger sugar craze from a video I watched about New York and I heard about the long lines people waited when this chain had first opened in New York to try the brown sugar boba milk. So when I discovered that this brand is there in Singapore, I marked it on my google map and went there as soon as I could. Fortunately, there were no lines here and this was the first time I tried boba. The combination of the creamy frothy milk with the brown caramelized sugar, and the boba pearls popping in your mouth is sublime. We kept coming back here for this glass of deliciousness throughout the trip.

10.Nasty Cookie

We went to Funan mall as my husband is a technology geek and I passed by this charming shop. These cookies were nasty alright! They were warmed and injected with liquid chocolate to increase their gooeyness. Fantastic cookies!

11.Lady M

Lady M is a New York City luxury confection brand that has some boutiques in Singapore as well. I am a big fan of their Mille Crepes, especially the signature flavour. It's basically thin layers of crepes and each layer has a luxurious creamy filling, so it is a take on a mille-feuille. It is light, airy yet extremely decadent.

12.Clinton Street Baking Company

This is the Singapore outpost of this New York Institution, they are famous for having one of the best pancakes in New York. We had their Pancakes with Warm Maple Butter topped with banana and walnuts and it was really good. Light and fluffy with sinful maple butter syrup, loved it.

13.Godiva Chocolatier

I love this chain as they make some truly chocolatey desserts. Had their indulgent dark chocolate soft serve, the best joke was I landed up there at 11 am just after breakfast and was too full, but I was greedy and not wanting to miss out and hence grabbed a quick soft serve to go!

14.Marche Movenpick

The one thing about Singapore is that you do get tired of walking as there is so much shopping and so many malls to explore. That's when we stumbled upon this charming restaurant and grabbed a few freshly made sandwiches beautifully displayed in their counters to go. They did not have any wow factor but they were decent sandwiches. But yes this restaurant was full of people and had a lot of interesting dishes on the menu, so yes one should check it out.

15.Project Açai

We stumbled upon Project Açai as well during a mall walk and tried their avocado toast and Açai bowl. It was quite refreshing and the Açai was surprisingly quite a pleasant flavour. The combination of the Açai with the cocoa nibs and nut butter made it a texturally flavourful experience.

16.Bread Talk

Bread Talk is a brilliant chain of bakeries in Singapore that truly celebrates the art of bread making and comes up with innovative new combinations to enjoy bread. Not one item that I have tried from this brand has been disappointing. Their menu keeps changing and everything is so fresh and tasty. It's especially convenient as well as one can just pick up and go and eat it in their hotel room while on a mall walk. The shop ambience in itself is so inviting that you simply feel like stepping in.

17.L'Eclair Patisserie

We visited Jewel next to Changi airport as I wanted to see this brilliant new mall that has come up. I have been a big fan of eclairs so stopped by this store and had the vanilla and caramelized pecan eclair. To say that it was a heavenly experience would also be an understatement it really was the stuff of dreams! The eclair was fresh and fluffy and the burst of vanilla cream in my mouth with the crunchy sweet pecans was a mind blowing flavour combination!

18.Room Picnic

Yes, this is not a restaurant name, but a concept you must adapt to in Singapore. Many days you will most definitely get tired of mall hopping or travelling, that's when you need to follow this concept especially for your dinner. You may along your way back to your hotel stumble upon amazing restaurants where you are too tired to sit down and eat a meal. Just grab some takeaway from your favourite places. Around each nook and corner, you will mostly find a seven eleven store that has an awesome variety of local drinks and snacks you must try, grab a few! And there you have it! As you can see from this picture, a collection of take-out, snacks, juices and chocolates. It will be one of your most memorable meals, a room picnic!
